Would any of you like to have a garden with date-palms and vines, with rivers flowing
underneath, and all kinds of fruits therein… Then it is struck with a whirlwind
containing fire and is burnt? Thus Allah makes clear His Ayat to you that you may

وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَنزَلَ مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءًۭ... وَمِنَ ٱلنَّخْلِ مِن طَلْعِهَا قِنْوَانٌۭ دَانِيَةٌۭ...
It is He Who sends down water from the sky… And out of the date-palm and its spathe
come forth clusters of dates hanging low and near… In these things there are signs
for people who believe.

And it is He Who produces gardens trellised and un-trellised, and date-palms, and
crops of different shape and taste… Eat of their fruit when they ripen, but pay the
due thereof on the day of its harvest, and waste not by extravagance.

growing out two or three from a single stem root, or otherwise… Watered with the same
water, yet some of them We make more excellent than others to eat. In these are signs
for people who understand.

يُنبِتُ لَكُم بِهِ ٱلزَّرْعَ وَٱلزَّيْتُونَ وَٱلنَّخِيلَ وَٱلۡأَعْنَـٰبَ...
With it He causes crops to grow for you, and the olive, and the date-palm, and the
grapes, and every kind of fruit. Verily, in this is indeed a manifest sign for people

Or you have a garden of date-palms and grapes, and cause rivers to gush forth in their

and We surrounded both with date-palms, and between them We placed crops.

“I will surely crucify you on the trunks of date-palms, and you shall surely know
which of us can give the more severe and lasting torment.”

Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, adornment and boasting…
like vegetation after rain whose growth pleases the farmers, then it dries up and you
see it turning yellow, then it becomes debris…
